Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Tests

When are the Key Stage 2 SATS in 2019?

2019 Key Stage 2 SATs dates: The tests have been scheduled for the week commencing 13th May 2019.

Monday 13 May 2019: English grammar, punctuation and spelling papers 1 and 2

Tuesday 14 May 2019: English reading

Wednesday 15 May 2019: Mathematics papers 1 and 2

Thursday 16 May 2019: Mathematics paper 3

What do the tests consist of?

The national curriculum tests for key stage 2 consist of mathematics tests, a reading test and grammar, punctuation and spelling tests. See our individual subject pages for more information on the mathematics tests, reading test and SPaG tests.

How will the tests be marked?

Previously, SATs tests were marked using levels (such as 2a, 3b, 4c). This was discontinued with the introduction of the new curriculum tests in 2016. They are now marked using a scaled scoring system to standardise the results. Scaled scores of 100 or above show that a pupil has met the expected standard. 80 is the lowest score and 120 is the highest score.
